How long till we get the new Dupe-free Reconenct feature back?
Any official word on how long till we get the ability to reconnect back?
Had quite a few problems now with people disconnecting mid vanquish/mission, major bummer after having the feature for so long and getting a bit dependent on it. (I'm not saying its Anets fault we're disconnecting...)

It is amazing how accustomed I have become to having reconnects. I had almost forgotten how frustrating it was to have a computer, game client, or connection crash during a vanquishing, elite mission run, or even while out progressing from point A to B in the storyline.
Unfortunately, over the last few days it seems that both my client and computer are conspiring to cause me endless grief (my client having crashed 3 times in the last 10 minutes), and thus, I am also hoping for a rapid reinstatement of reconnects.
Unfortunately, I am unsure of the complexity of the issue of the reconnect feature as well as the reworking/retooling that will be needed to resolve the duplication exploit. And I _am_ sure that ANet is not interested in rushing out a reconnect fix without properly scrutinizing the entire process for further possible exploits. Which unfortunately leaves me expecting that the issue won't be resolved until after GWEN is released, or possibly even later.

Yes, i really want the reconnect feature back. I get disconnected like every 30 mins right now and i can't play anything. Maybe just a couple of RA rounds. It's very annoying.
BTW...that's my first post on this forum

I had problems since they changed it to auto log back into it without kickingyou out tologing again... IDK what changed really code wise, but I missed that you lost connection the last time you were here, do you wish to reconnect? when I would come back to the game... that system had about a 80% success rate for me to reconnect...
The other system that lost connection then immediately tried to reconnect, without logging in again, ended up being more like a 30% success rate for me at least... Which was frustrating when in a long elite mission or vanquishing group... I figure they want a little time to fix the bugs in the system from both problems that are known in it, and make it more secure and a higher reconnection success rate. Figure some time after GW:EN goes gold. And they have some spare time again. Yea right GW2 hot on the heals possibly less then a year away.... Spare Time? lol whats that? lol

This is a little off topic however:
So im not the only one thankfully. Did a complete memory, ram and bios scan, virus and then a spyware scan to see if the freezes where related, turns out another PC was connected to my PC, i set up a personal firewall and now the game runs smoothly again.
Just a little bit of heads up, in case anyone else has a freezing problem. I think i may have been connected to the said PC through GuildWiki, its the only website that is registered as dangerous when i visit it. Needless to sat i'm sticking to the official wiki.

this feature really makes or kills the game for me, spend lot time in elite missions [deep-doa-fow-etc] & nothing worse than getting 007 part of way into these missions, so anet if listening "my wallet stays in my pocket, gw-en or no gw-en!" till i see if this is going to come back into game, *sits back and listens to the shareholders muttering "oh no someone has mentioned not buying gw-en, quick wake gaile up and get her to issue another P.R statement that everything is ok" lol

Considering how long it took to get it in the first place, I would say a long time.

Really I think the easiest way to get back the reconnect option and still avoid the dupe exploit would be to disable trading in instances. Yeah I'm sure there's some people who trade while in a mission but it's probably more important to bring back reconnects for now. Once they actually fix the exploit, bring back both.

Then people could just drop the items. Do not really need a trade window.
I'll be really glad when they get the reconnects back as well as quite a few in our guild have problems with disconnects and Vanquishing and other big long missions are not very possible without them. We are kinda put on hold with a lot of thing till it is back in the game. Would like to know when an expected return date for them would be as well.

Thats only reliable in guild/alliance teams. I wouldn't trust dropping stuff on the floor if i was trading with a pug, at least without going completely out of your way to make sure its safe...
Loki... it took them ages to decide to actually design and implement it. They already have the system now, its just a case of fixing what was wrong and giving it us back. Although i suppose Anets track record with fixing non-gamebreaking things fast isn't great.

What I don't understand is why people would trade in instances anyway...
The only reasons I can think of in which people would try to trade in instances:
- scamming (infamous ecto on ground thingy) --> disabling trades in instances actually fixes this problem
- bags full, have a friend hold it --> bring a salvage kit or empty bags next time before a journey
- showing someone the stats of a weapon that just dropped, without dropping it on the ground --> people shouldn't be so nosy and you can show it in outposts AFTER the mission/quest/instance
- showing someone the stats o a weapon that is being used --> disabling trading in instances would solve people's e-peen issues...
- giving a weapon to someone (like a vamp weapon for one of the crystal desert mission bonuses or the deep/urgoz's warren) to accomplish a certain part of a mission when stuck --> come prepared next time
- giving a longbow to a warrior to pull because they don't use bows to pull (ignorant warriors) --> get a better warrior, he/she doesn't deserve to finish the mission/quest
so yeh...unless someone can come up with legitimate reasons besides e-peen and full bags, I don't see why they shouldn't just disable trade in instances.

True that. When Fenix and I were testing it out, trading seemed to be the only thing that worked but we didn't really test out the dropping thing that much since once the trade worked, we sent it off to Gaile right away and they disabled reconnects about 5 minutes after that.
It'll probably end up making them recode how the reconnects work and what happens to your character while its in limbo.

lol bye-bye pug dual Uw 50/50 (no I don't trust anyone)
-It's sad when you blow 5k(throughout the day) to not even be able to move from the main pedestal. Then get D/C'd...get a RE screen, only to be booted to character select.
